The front side sports the earpiece, sensors and the front facing camera. The rear packs the dual rear cameras in vertical orientation, the fingerprint scanner and Mi branding along with the antenna bands. The top houses the IR sensor, headphone jack and the noise cancelling microphone. The bottom part consists of the Micro-USB charging port, bottom firing speaker and the primary microphone. The right side packs the volume rocker and power button while the left side houses an Dual SIM Slot plus an SD Card Slot. It measures 149.33 x 71.68 x 8.75 mm and weighs 178 grams.

All variants packs in the same Snapdragon 625 SoC with a maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz. The Adreno 506 GPU takes care of the graphics intensive duties. There are two available RAM/Storage configurations available at 3/32 GB and 4/64 GB models. Its runs on MIUI 9 out of the box. The memory is expandable up to 256 GB using the Micro-SD Card.

The rear packs dual rear cameras with the primary shooter being a 12MP f/2.2 aperture sensor with PDAF and LED flash and a secondary 5MP sensor. The front camera is capable of face unlock which a norm these days for all Android Phones. The rear camera has AI Portrait Mode, HDR, Burst Mode etc. EIS is provided for video recording. In the video front the rear cameras are capable of recording up to 1080p at 30 fps. Slow motion video recording i.e. 720p at 120 fps is also provided.

To keep running this smartphone, a huge 4,000 mAh battery is provided which in our opinion can last a complete day at moderate to heavy usage. The smartphone is charged using the Micro-USB Port at the bottom using a 5V/2A (10W) adapter provided in the box while the phone does support Quick Charge 3.0 but one has to buy a separate adapter for this.
