Design and Display


The smartphone is built using a metal unibody design with antenna bands at the back. The front packs in a decent 6.3 inch notched IPS display at a Full HD+ resolution at 1080 x 2280 pixels and having an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Honor promises to have a screen to body ratio of 89% which is quite amazing at the price point in which the smartphone is released. The device measures 157.91 x 74.27 x 7.48 mm and weighs 176 grams.


Processor and Specifications


All variants packs in the HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset based on 10nm process of manufacturing and is the current flagship processor from Huawei. The Mali-G72 MP12 GPU takes care of the graphics intensive tasks while there is a dedicated NPU for AI operations. The phone is also said to have support for the newly announced Turbo GPU Technology by Huawei. There are two available RAM/Storage configurations at 4/64 GB and 6/64 GB. There is a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage using a MicroSD card. Its runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI skin(version 8.2) on top of Android.




The front packs a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture for taking selfies and video calls. The rear packs dual rear cameras with 16MP + 2MP combination with dual core autofocus and LED flash. All the AI features like scene recognition are baked within the camera app. The front camera is capable of face unlock which a norm these days for all Android Phones. Both the front and rear cameras are capable of taking Portrait mode shots and have Studio lighting effects in it.




To keep the phone running, it has a more than enough 3,750 mAh battery which will last through a full day and is charged using a USB Type-C Port at the bottom using a fast charger having a power rating of 9V/2A (18W) .


Connectivity and Pricing


Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, USB Type-C port and the 3.5mm audio jack.

The device will be available in Midnight Black and Navy Blue colour options and there will be a special edition variant with textured back panel which will arrive at a later date.

The Honor Play with 4/64 GB variant is priced at ₹19,999 while the 6/64 GB variant is priced at ₹23,999. The device will be exclusively sold through Amazon India and the sale starts at 6th August.
